The story of Konner
Conchobar mac Nessa is the king of Ulster in the Tain and the surrounding tales — named for his mother rather than his father, which is unusual — and the name was borne by high kings afterwards. It became the surname O'Connor, one of the most common in Ireland, and returned to the front of the name in the twentieth century through American and Irish use alike.
