Jessyca
Feminine
Jessyca and Jesika solve the same problem in opposite directions. One keeps the consonants and changes the vowel; the other keeps the vowel and changes the consonant. Both are respellings of a name that was almost certainly made up by a playwright out of a single line in Genesis.

The story of Jessyca
Shakespeare needed a Jewish daughter's name for The Merchant of Venice and appears to have built one. The English Bibles he could have used render a name in the genealogy at the end of Genesis chapter eleven as Iscah or Jescha, a woman mentioned once and never again, and Jessica is close enough to that to be a plausible reworking. The play was popular, the name was not otherwise in use, and by the eighteenth century it was in circulation. That makes it one of a small set of English names with a probable author and a probable date, alongside Miranda, Imogen and Perdita. The respellings came three hundred and fifty years later and work on the two letters in the middle, which say nothing that could not be said another way.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No settled meaning, because the name was invented rather than inherited. The likeliest source is a Hebrew name that appears once in Genesis and nowhere else, whose own meaning is disputed and may involve seeing or looking out. Readings offered for Jessica as though it were an ordinary Hebrew name are working from that one uncertain verse and adding confidence that is not there.

Three syllables with the stress at the front. The y is doing what y has always done in English and standing in for a short i, so this spelling is said exactly as the standard one.

Fashion outlook
Jessyca sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off
- The spoken name is one of the most recognized in English, so it is never repeated back.
- Jess and Jessie are two established short forms in different registers.
- It has an unusually well-argued origin, with a probable author and a probable page.
- The standard spelling is overwhelmingly commoner and this one will be read as a typing error.
- The y changes nothing audible, so the difference exists only in writing.
- The name is tightly dated to the last decades of the twentieth century.
