Our story of Jerrika
In the first MGM cartoon about a cat chasing a mouse, Puss Gets the Boot in 1940, the cat was Jasper and the mouse had no name; when the studio held a contest among its staff for new names, the pair became Tom and Jerry, and went on to win seven Academy Awards. Jerrika takes that quick, cheeky Jerry and gives it the crisp -ika of Erika and Monika. It sounds lively and sure of itself.
