Our story of Jawon
In Persian, javan means young, and jawan is the ordinary word across northern India and Pakistan for a young soldier. Follow it far enough back and it meets the Latin iuvenis, which gives English juvenile and junior and rejuvenate, and beyond that the plain English word young. One root, spread from Ireland to Bengal, arriving in each language so long ago that the relatives no longer recognize each other. Jawon does not descend from it; nothing in the record connects the two. But it is a reminder that the shapes a name can take are not unlimited, and that a syllable invented in America last century may accidentally land on a word that has been in use for five thousand years.

Fashion outlook
Jawon sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off
- Short, two syllables, and made of sounds English already has in abundance.
- It is recorded for boys and for girls, so it does not force a reading on anyone.
- Jay comes off the front as a short form and needs no introduction.
- The spelling is recorded for a few girls, but nearly every child with it is a boy.
- Two stress patterns are in circulation and the spelling settles neither.
- No origin is documented, so the meaning question has nothing to answer with.
