The story of Gwyneth
Gwynedd was the last Welsh kingdom to fall, holding out until Llywelyn the Last was killed in 1282. Gwyneth became a Welsh girls' name in the nineteenth century and spread through English use. An American actress of the name, born in 1972, gave it wide visibility. It appears in the American registers in current use.

Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Gwyneth's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Sandie climbed just as high around 1947, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Sandie's path sketches the road Gwyneth is walking now.
