The story of Ezriel
Azriel is named three times in Chronicles as a chief of Manasseh and a father of officials. In later Jewish mystical literature the name is given to an angel. Yiddish-speaking communities used Ezriel and Azriel, and the name appears in American records, chiefly among Orthodox families, in current use.
Meaning
God is my help
From the Hebrew Azri'el — ezer, 'help', and El, 'God'. It is a complete statement rather than a word. The same ezer element gives Ezra and Azariah. Azriel is named in Chronicles and in later angelological texts. The Hebrew is ordinary and the reading undisputed.

The Marice test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Ezriel's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Marice climbed just as high around 1974, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Marice's path sketches the road Ezriel is walking now.
Ezriel sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
