The story of Erasmo
Erasmus of Formia was the patron saint of sailors, and the electrical glow that appears on a ship's masts in a storm was named St Elmo's fire after him — Elmo being a worn-down Erasmus. Sailors read it as a sign of his protection. Separately, Erasmus of Rotterdam produced the Greek New Testament that Luther translated from, and argued with him afterwards about free will.

The Lucio test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Erasmo's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Lucio climbed just as high around 1907, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Lucio's path sketches the road Erasmo is walking now.
Erasmo sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

- The Elmo short form is now dominated by a children's television character.
- Six letters and three syllables, manageable but not short.
- It is unfamiliar outside Italian and Spanish-speaking communities.
