Dyana
Feminine · “of the daylight”
The y forces a reading that the standard spelling leaves open. Diana can be said dye-AN-uh or dee-AH-nuh depending on the country and the century, and English speakers genuinely disagree; a y in the first syllable can only be the long one, and the ambiguity is gone.

The story of Dyana
One of her sanctuaries had a priest who held office by murder. At the lake at Nemi, south of Rome, the priesthood of Diana went to a runaway slave who broke a branch from a particular tree and then killed the man holding the post; he kept it until somebody did the same to him, and he lived in the grove waiting. The custom was reported as still operating in the imperial period and struck Roman writers as barbaric and unaccountably ancient. An anthropologist opened a very famous book with it, and built a theory of religion on trying to explain why anyone would arrange things that way.
Meaning
of the daylight, divine
The Roman goddess's name is built on a root meaning bright or shining that also gives the words for day and for a god. The derivation is well established and the respelling touches none of it.

Fashion outlook
Dyana sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off
- The spelling settles a pronunciation the standard form leaves genuinely open.
- Ana sits inside it as a complete and independent name.
- The meaning is old, clear and easy to explain.
- Diana is overwhelmingly standard and this gets corrected constantly.
- The y reads as a decoration to people who have not noticed what it fixes.
- It is closely tied to the decades of its use.
