The story of Doroteo
The man the world knows as Pancho Villa was born Doroteo Arango on a hacienda in Durango, and the name he is remembered by was taken later, in circumstances he told more than one way. The accounts he gave varied — a bandit leader whose name he inherited, a family name from his father's side, a name he chose — and historians have never settled it. What is documented is the transformation: a sharecropper's son became a cattle rustler, then the commander of the largest cavalry force in Mexico, then the governor of a state issuing his own currency, then a general defeated by his former allies, then a private citizen on a granted ranch, then a man shot in his car at a road junction. Along the way he signed a contract with an American film company that gave it exclusive rights to film his battles.

Fashion outlook
Doroteo sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
