Our story of Devron
The shape of a name's curve says a good deal about how it spread. A coinage that comes off a television screen or a record goes up like a flare and comes down almost as fast, because everybody hears it at once and the ones who use it are all responding to the same moment. A name that climbs steadily for decades is spreading the slow way, person to person — a cousin, a neighbor, a boy two grades above — with nobody involved having heard of the same source. That second kind is rarer in the modern record than it used to be, and it leaves a distinctive trace: a long shallow rise, no single year that stands out, and no cause that can be pointed at.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No source word. The front resembles the English county name that lies behind Devon, and the ending is one of the American suffixes that were available for building with. Neither half brings a meaning, and the county is a place rather than a word with a sense to pass on.

Fashion outlook
Devron sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off

- Devon, Devron and Davron are all nearby and his will be written as one of them.
- Two stress patterns are possible and he will be asked which.
- There is no meaning to hand him, and the county the front resembles is a place rather than a word.
