Danisha
Feminine
There is a Sanskrit word for night inside Danisha. Nisha is night, and it is the same word that Anish is built on with a privative prefix meaning without; the American coinage arrives at it by pure accident, through a Da- prefix and an -isha ending.

Our story of Danisha
Coincidences of this kind are common and are worth naming honestly rather than either claiming or ignoring. The -isha ending of American naming appeared in the 1960s, most visibly in Keisha and Tanisha, and no source for it has been documented; the ending is not Arabic, not African in any traceable way, and not English. Sanskrit nisha, night, is a genuine word with a long history and is used as an Indian woman's name. The two arrived at the same four letters from opposite sides of the world with no contact between them, which happens more often than it should because the stock of easy syllables is small. Danisha's best year in United States records is 1994.

Not established
No inherited etymology. The Da- prefix is a free American naming element and the -isha ending is shared with Keisha, Tanisha and Lakeisha, whose own source is not documented. Sanskrit nisha, night, is a genuine word and a genuine Indian name, and the resemblance is a coincidence rather than a derivation.

The Modesta test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Danisha's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Modesta climbed just as high around 1909, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Modesta's path sketches the road Danisha is walking now.
Danisha sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
