Corena
Feminine
Corena writes with one n and one e what the older forms write with two n's and an i, and the result sits between two names that were already hard to separate. Corinna is Greek and literary; Corinne is French and nineteenth-century; and this spelling could be a respelling of either, or a name built from neither.

The story of Corena
The name has an unusually literary history for one so plain. A Greek poet carried it in the fifth century before Christ, of whose work only fragments survive and about whom later writers told an anecdote that may or may not be true. A Roman poet used it as the name of the woman his love poems are addressed to, and modern scholars generally think she was a composite or an invention rather than a person. And a French novel at the start of the nineteenth century used a version of it for a heroine who was a poet herself, which put the name into general European circulation. Three literary bearers across two and a half thousand years, two of whom probably did not exist, and a name that reached American registers looking entirely ordinary.
Meaningnot established
Not established
The Greek name behind the older forms may come from a word for a girl or a maiden, and that is as far as anybody can take it: the derivation is plausible, unproven and about a century old as a suggestion. The French form adds nothing to the question. This spelling inherits an unsettled etymology rather than solving it, and no confident reading should be given.
How the name formed

Three syllables with the stress in the middle. The single n and the e together suggest a long second vowel, which is how most American families say it, where the doubled n of Corinna suggests a short one.

Fashion outlook
Corena sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
