Our story of Clydia
Clyde was a common boys' name in America at the start of the twentieth century, and Clydia looks like a daughter's form of it. The most famous Clyde of the age was Clyde Tombaugh, a Kansas farm boy whose drawings of Mars won him a job at the Lowell Observatory; in 1930, at twenty-four, comparing pairs of photographic plates of the night sky by eye, he spotted a faint dot that moved, and it was Pluto. Clydia shares his name's steady sound and gives it a soft, rising ending.
