The story of Anjuli
When people in India press their palms together to say namaste, the gesture itself is the añjali, and a name made from it carries that sense of offering and respect. M.M. Kaye, who grew up in India, made Anjuli the heroine of The Far Pavilions, a half-Indian princess loved by a British officer raised as a Hindu, and the novel and its television version were read and watched around the world. Anjuli follows her spelling.
