The story of Angad
Guru Nanak chose Lehna as his successor over his own sons and renamed him Angad — my limb — a naming the tradition records as a statement about continuity. Guru Angad standardized the Gurmukhi script. A separate Angad appears in the Ramayana. The name is in current American use.
Meaning
part of my body, limb
From the Sanskrit anga, 'limb' or 'body part', with a possessive sense. Guru Nanak renamed his successor Lehna as Angad, saying he was a limb of his own body. The Sikh tradition records the naming directly. The Sanskrit is documented.

The Anuj test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Angad's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Anuj climbed just as high around 1979, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Anuj's path sketches the road Angad is walking now.
Angad sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
