Our story of Abrahim
Ours, offered as ours. The renaming is the point: Abram, exalted father, becomes Abraham, and the text says the new name means father of a multitude — but philologically the change is small and the explanation strains. What the narrative is doing is marking a covenant with a change of name, which is a real ancient practice, and supplying a meaning to fit. Sarai becomes Sarah in the same passage for the same reason.

father of many
Genesis explains Abraham as father of a multitude of nations, but the second element does not straightforwardly give that in Hebrew and an older Semitic or Aramaic source has been proposed. Abram, the earlier form, is more transparent — exalted father.

The Kipper test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Abrahim's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Kipper climbed just as high around 1962, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Kipper's path sketches the road Abrahim is walking now.
Abrahim sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off
- One of the most consequential names in human history stands behind it.
- Abe is available immediately as an ordinary English short form.
- Recognized across three major religious traditions.
- Abraham and Ibrahim are both standard and this spelling is neither.
- Seven letters and three syllables is a fair amount for early handwriting.
- The biblical explanation of the meaning is a wordplay rather than an etymology.
